This is a picture of my painting instructor Marc Wurmbrand and one of his pieces of work. He has been so generous in sharing his admiration for and knowledge of art; in particular, painting...the process, as well as the product, with his students. Since I became one of his students last Fall, I have been mentally collecting what I call "Marcisms". These are little phrases he uses to motivate and inspire his students to be creative. A few of them are, "let your first mark be your last", "point of departure", "thinking in paint", and my very favorite, "make a mark and see where it takes you". I love that! The first time I heard him say that I thought, "He speaks my language!". However, the most freeing Marcism is "There are no originals. It has all been done before." I am continually surprised at the relief this idea brings me.

I am curious as to what this phrase does for you, if anything. You are invited to let me know!

A Snowy Day

This week and next the kids are on Spring Break! However, I had to go to school. While I was there, Ashley called to tell me it was snowing at the house. We just had a cold wind at the school but as soon as I hung up with her, the snow was falling!! It didn't stick, but it was fun. I started a new picture in class and wanted to bring it home to work on it, but I didn't want it to get wet. It will have to sit and wait til Thursday to have any more work done on it.

We spent a couple hours at the salon today. Ashley wanted to go from her very dark brown hair back to blonde. It's almost exactly like her natural color, just VERY fragile now. Tough beauty lesson to learn.

I'm searching for more pictures to upload; old and new. I love to look through pictures and reminicse. (Did I spell that right?)

Family Portrait

Okay people, so here is the closest thing to a family portrait. It is 2 years old. Back row left to right, Lauren, Bethany, Ashley. They all wear make-up now! Cameron is on Bart's lap; and no, that is not an earring on Bart's ear, it's Bethany's zipper. We had a fabulous dinner that night at Sayaka's Japanese Restaurant. Yummy!

Newest Portrait of the Family

If you don't see a photo here, do not adjust your computer. You don't see the newest portrait because there isn't one!!! We've been talkin' about getting that done for 8 years now! Soon...... it will happen soon!
