This Is How It's Done

For the last 5.5 years, every time I stood at my kitchen sink I have had to bow my head and stare into the sink instead of looking out the window. To look out my kitchen window would mean staring directly into our neighbors kitchen window. Or, I could turn my head and stare at their stuff-filled backyard. Neither option is pleasant. I would choose to bow and stare.

Although this has really bothered me, I never said anything to hubby about it. He didn't realize the problem himself because when he cooks, or does dishes, it is dark outside. This covers the unpleasantness outside and allows him to stare at his own reflection in the window; a much more pleasant view, in my opinion.

When hubby learned how I stared down into my sink, and that it really bothered me to not have a pleasant view, he quickly hired some guys to build a wall between the two properties.

On Friday, the hired guys arrived at the house, dug a ditch and laid rebar. The weekend came and went. Monday came. They guys didn't. Tuesday came. The guys did not.

We hired another team of guys. No shows. And a third team was hired. No show again. I thought people needed work? Is our money not green?

In steps our dear friend, Camie. She sent George to us. George looked at the ditch. George looked at the brick. George said, "We'll be here Tuesday after Memorial Day." Tuesday after Memorial Day came and So. Did. George. He had also ordered more block so they could build a Complete wall. And, the block was delivered directly to our address - where the wall is to be built. Imagine that.

George and His Guys came prepared with wheelbarrows, shovels, trowels, saws, and all other miscellaneous equipment needed for the job. Nobody left the job to "get a tool" at the hardware stored. Shocking.

They got right to work and didn't let breezy conditions hamper their speed or their attitudes. Nice!

As time passed, they kept up their speed and continued to be pleasant with each other until they had worked a Complete 8 Hours. Impressive.

George said the wall will be completed by Friday. I believe him. Relief.

Mr. No Shoulders Came For A Visit

Bart and Cameron were spending Memorial Day running errands and fixing things up around the house for their girls. :) (They're so good to us) When they returned home from running errands, this is who they saw waiting on the front step for them!

I Love Snakes and he was absolutely beautiful...

...but he's not allowed in the house...or on our property. So, Hubby coaxed him down the drive and onto the street.

As hubby was about to put him in the field across from us I said, "Wait! I've got to get more pictures of him!"

Snakes don't like to pose for anybody, and he let us know by this last stance he was done with us.

I took my last shot and off he went into the field. Sigh. Although it was short, I did enjoy Mr. No Shoulders company. I hope he comes to visit again soon.

Feathered Visitors

We all went to bed last night after midnight. Yuck! We, the kids and I, were all hoping to sleep in this morning. That didn't happen. I woke up way too early when I heard Bart saying, "You gotta be kidding me!" He was searching for his running equipment, then realized he left it in the hotel in Canada earlier this week.

As I staggered down the hall to get my very neglected running equipment for him, I heard Bart say, "Look at that! There are ducks in our pool!" Well, that perked me right up. I Love Ducks. They are wild and very Beautiful.

Here is the Happy Couple

I ran into the house to get bread. I wanted to feed them so they would continue to come back to visit us. However, the piece of bread I threw at them scared them away. I was sad. Hopefully, they will come back again.

It makes me wonder where they came from and if they visit our pool often?

What's in Your Garden?

I bet you didn't think I could find anything beautiful in, or around, this "work in progress" garden, huh?

Well, I did!
