This Is How It's Done

For the last 5.5 years, every time I stood at my kitchen sink I have had to bow my head and stare into the sink instead of looking out the window. To look out my kitchen window would mean staring directly into our neighbors kitchen window. Or, I could turn my head and stare at their stuff-filled backyard. Neither option is pleasant. I would choose to bow and stare.

Although this has really bothered me, I never said anything to hubby about it. He didn't realize the problem himself because when he cooks, or does dishes, it is dark outside. This covers the unpleasantness outside and allows him to stare at his own reflection in the window; a much more pleasant view, in my opinion.

When hubby learned how I stared down into my sink, and that it really bothered me to not have a pleasant view, he quickly hired some guys to build a wall between the two properties.

On Friday, the hired guys arrived at the house, dug a ditch and laid rebar. The weekend came and went. Monday came. They guys didn't. Tuesday came. The guys did not.

We hired another team of guys. No shows. And a third team was hired. No show again. I thought people needed work? Is our money not green?

In steps our dear friend, Camie. She sent George to us. George looked at the ditch. George looked at the brick. George said, "We'll be here Tuesday after Memorial Day." Tuesday after Memorial Day came and So. Did. George. He had also ordered more block so they could build a Complete wall. And, the block was delivered directly to our address - where the wall is to be built. Imagine that.

George and His Guys came prepared with wheelbarrows, shovels, trowels, saws, and all other miscellaneous equipment needed for the job. Nobody left the job to "get a tool" at the hardware stored. Shocking.

They got right to work and didn't let breezy conditions hamper their speed or their attitudes. Nice!

As time passed, they kept up their speed and continued to be pleasant with each other until they had worked a Complete 8 Hours. Impressive.

George said the wall will be completed by Friday. I believe him. Relief.

Hi Debbie! HaHa! I actually have submitted to a publishing house; and was gently rejected. I haven't pursued it very hard. I appreciate knowing you enjoy my writing and that you feel like I haven't changed! That is a nice thought...
